multiple intelligences~

lolz wow i learnt smth new today. ok la not that it's compeletely alien just that i didn't know it was called by this name. the idea is that we are all intelligent; just in different areas. 7 areas actually: linguistic, logical/mathematical, musical, bodily/kinesthetic, spatial-visual, interpersonal, intrapersonal. ahh i always thought that intelligence was a tricky issue, especially in definition. multiple intelligences model. oh so sad architecture uses the spatial-visual intelligence. which is like my lowest intelligence~ oh wellZ. but think it's a lousy test anyway so direct. observer effectZ.

As we go through life, sooner or later, I think we all come up with personal overarching theories and philosophies that ultimately shape our actions. They guide the way we see everything in life, from within to without, having implications in every single aspect of our life. As trials come our way, these ideas are continuously refined. Our state of mind is in a constant change of flux and while our internal state determines the way we receive external events, the external events too shape the way our internal state is. It’s not a one-sided thing; everything’s connected in a huge web of relationships.

hm my bro... at least in the past not sure if he still subscribes to this theory~. anyway, he has the idea that that most people have an average number of points. These points include looks, intelligence, wisdom, height, stature... aiya basically anything that is good in life. not just the multiple intelligences but things like family situation, quality of life etc. everything la. a little unscientific... but it seems fair enough anyway. there is the significant minority who have less points, and those that have more. So each person has this certain number of points that can be thrown into any number of these attributes. some people can be uber good looking and nothing else, while others can be a jack of all trades master of none.

i had a different idea (not sure specifically what my personal philosophy is now but this was what i used to think at least). my idea was that we are born with that average number of points. like wad my bro said. they define our... hm talents. natural affinities. there are those with less, and those with more. but to that, i added the idea that if we work at it, we can add points to those areas. certain things can't be changed of course... family situations, disabilities, genetic disorders and stuff. we can't be born again. but for other things like logical ability, intra/interpersonal skills... i always thought those could be developed. we can change the things we don't like abt ourselves. like an introvert can learn to be sociable. and an extrovert can learn to be introspective. and a judging type can learn to be spontaneous, while a perceiving type can nurture the skills of planning and organization.

after doing more personality tests with the MBTI and others... i'm still refining this core idea. it's not set in stone... but one thing for sure. it's gonna determine the way i view the ppl around me both strangers and friends. so it's impt. i'll watch it's development with care.

it's quite scary actually. i realize that i change without realizing it. all of a sudden, i realize that i'm significantly different from who i used to be a few months ago. then i have to check myself and ask... hm is this direction where i wanna go? sometimes it's yes... then it's all good and fine. but sometimes it's not. i always thought i would have my personal character development in the palm of my hand. to find out that my unconscious still has such a strong hold over me leaves me both apprehensive and humbled.
